Best Evidence / Discovery; Creative Differences (multiple segments) Is the gov't. seeding clouds with aluminum? Extensive jet engine testing at Kettering U is documented for this new show. I dressed this up with pools of light to focus the viewers attention on the primary subject. Shot with the SDX900. (2007) Integrated Interiors / Johnson Controls; Move Communications Marketing video highlighting the integrated interior system designed by JCI, shown to major auto manufacturers. Illustration quality studio lighting of car interiors and long jib arm moves. DVX100A DV. (2006) Desi DNA / BBC Documentary segment following a Lebanese Arab-American family as they prepare and celebrate a traditional American Thanksgiving. PAL DVCam. (2006) The States / History Channel; Actuality Productions Mostly ultimatte greenscreen interviews, plus man on the street and scenics. Shot with the Panasonic Varicam. (2006) Modern Marvels /History Channel; Actuality Productions Now in HD! I recently lensed 9 more segments for Modern Marvels with the Panasonic Varicam. (2005, 2006, 2007) Unexpected Murderers / Court TV; Brainbox Pictures DP for the pilot episode shot on Ultimatte Greenscreen with 2 Canon HDV cameras. (2006) I Want Your Job / Fine Living; Screaming Flea Productions The goal here was to not puke while riding with & shooting a test driver at high speeds on a twisting road course! Fun stuff for sure. (2006) Entertainment Tonight / People Magazine promo Coverage of a fashion photo shoot of singer Joss Stone getting fitted for her Grammy appearance along with a sitdown interview. Betacam. (2006) Ice Diaries / TLC; TWI & IMG Six part doc series, following ice skater Alissa Czizny around the world in her quest to make the US Olympic team. DVX100A. (2005, 2006) GI Factory / Discovery Military; Creative Differences Tanks & Humvees in the field at Ft. Knox and at the factories where they're built. Riding an M1 tank is quite an interesting treat. MRE's however are not! Betacam. (2005) The Visitors / CMT; Painless Productions 5 interesting characters invade the Baloney Festival in Yale, Mi. Wiring 6 talent and staging them throughout the town kept me hopping for 4 days. Betacam. (2005) Nextfest 2005 / Discovery; Michael Hoff Productions The Mythbusters host this special, live to tape, from Nextfest 2005 at Navy Pier in Chicago. Standups and interviews on the floor of the exposition. Betacam. (2005) ESPN Sports Center / ESPN Live shots and interviews from the Palace during the NBA Finals. Betacam. (2004, 2005) Letting Go / Bethany Christian Services; Move Communications Six very moving adoption stories. Sit-down interviews, group discussion and b-roll. 24P DV can look quite nice and adds texture to the story. DVX100A DV. (2005) Extreme Makeover / ABC Television; New Screen Entertainment Complete back story shot doc style and then multicam DP for her big reveal to family & friends. Betacam. (2004) Building Character / HGTV; NAHB Production Group Touring interesting & unique homes and meeting the characters who renovated them. Multiple episodes. Betacam. (2004) Big Brother 5 / CBS Television; Our House Productions On-Location introductions of three contestants and live 'kidnapping'. Betacam. (2004) Car & Driver Television / Spike TV; RTM Productions C & D's 10 best. Mostly high speed pass-by's on a local race track. Betacam. (2004) Tech Effect / History Channel; Screaming Flea Productions Thompson sub-machine guns and Canadian Club whiskey. Integral parts of the St. Valentines Day massacre featured in this episode. Betacam. (2004) Modern Marvels / History Channel; Actuality Productions Opening sequence for a 2 hour special on motorcycles. Interviews, b-roll & Helmut-cam POV on the Tomahawk, a V-10 powered 300mph bike! Betacam & DV. (2003) Top 5 / Food Network; Atlas Media Various segments for this popular show. Night shots in the rain of a diner with lots of neon and classic cars made for some very nice pictures. (2003, 2004) Eminem Documentary, BBC; Atlantic/Endemol Helicopter aerials at sunset for the opening sequence of a one hour doc. PAL, Digibeta, 16X9. (2003) Stella Luna DVD; 900 Frames Bonus documentary clip for the Stella Luna animated feature DVD. This involved interviews and actualities at the Cranbrook Institute of Science bat zone. (2003) Super Surgery / Discovery Health; Screaming Flea Productions This episode dealt with sexual re-assignment surgery. We interviewed the subject, his wife and his children. We also covered the surgical procedure. (2003) Kapow! Superhero Science / Discovery Network; Actuality Productions A primetime special on people using science in very unique ways. Cyberlink Brainfingers uses electrical impulses generated in the forehead to control computers. (2003) SIDS Conference; National Institutes of Health 2 camera speaker support, documentary coverage, stand up interviews, portrait interviews and more were all part of the 2 day shoot for the NIH. (2003) Smarter Than The Rest Of Us / CTV; DOCTV Documentary by Robert Duncan for Canadian TV on intelligence. (2003) AMGA Acclaim Award; Ivy Road Studio A 6 minute documentary style tribute to the award winning team from Henry Ford Health System. (2003) Bloomberg Business News / Televideo A half dozen live shots from the floor of the N. American International Auto Show. Fiber optic feeds, IFBs and CEOs all mixed together flawlessly. (2003) Juvenile Justice Teleconference; EKU A series of documentary video roll-ins for a day long teleconference produced for the Department of Justice. Portrait interviews and tons of location B-roll. (2002) Chevy Express Van / Dewalt Tools Promo; J. Schmier Productions A 60 second music-video style promo used at events co-sponsored by Dewalt & Chevrolet. The 6 FPS 16mm look dominated this piece. (2002) Microheat; J. Schmier Productions Photographing a new Cadillac against a 20 X 20 ultimatte in a cold room at -20c across the border in Canada. Just another day at the office. (2002) NY Yankees / WNBC Sports; WNBC The Yankees clinch the pennant. I get the sound bites and the b-roll. The footage is uplinked to New York and on the 6 O'clock news. The producer loved it. Next. (2002) Six Sigma / Barnes; Chase & Davis I served as DP for this 3 camera 'M-TV Unplugged' style shoot. A Cammate jib, dolly and several Source 4's helped in greatly exceeding the clients expectations. (2002) US Customs Video Newsmagazine / US Customs Opening and closing stand-ups in front of the Ambassador Bridge. HMI's, teleprompter and location sound typified these set-ups. (2002) Tech TV / Freeman Productions Many segments for Cable TV shows Fresh Gear, CyberCrime, The Tech Of... and Audiofile. Each photographed in the style appropriate for that show. (2001, 2002) Ford Quality Award / J. Schmier Productions A 3 minute video featuring a sculptor working in his studio, creating a bronze sculpture and talking about his art and partnerships. Very warm and fuzzy. (2002, 2003, 2004) Greenfield Village / Soloman Friedman Advertising A commercial for the winter activities of this historical site. Snow machines and night photography helped overcome the lack of snow. 16mm. (2001) Saturn Business Conference / J. Schmier Productions Sony 900 HD camera with 3.3 to 1 framing. Shooting on the assembly line required hand held that had to be rock steady for extremely large screen projection. (2001)
Michigan Viet Nam Veterans Memorial / Gail & Rice Productions The governor attended the dedication of the Michigan Viet Nam Veterans Memorial via video roll-in. (2001) Volvo Cross Country VNR / Campbell & Co. Helicopter aerials of the Cross Country caravan for VNR and other uses. (2001) E-GM Introductory Video / EDS Media Center Dolly, turntable, wide angle lens and ultimatte were used to jazz up 3 minutes of computer screens for a presentation to GM's dealers in Las Vegas. (2001) Bowling for Columbine / Dog Eat Dog Films Documentary DP certainly has its challenges. Mr. Moore was extremely happy with the footage I brought back. See testimonials page. 16mm. (2000) Mazda Competitive Comparison / J. Schmier Productions On-camera talent mixed with race car driver Johnny Unser's evaluations and performance driving showcase the advantages of the Mazda product line. (2000) OmniCare HMO / Mars Advertising Rich looking close-ups of slices of life, shot at 36fps, made this TV spot eye-catching. 16mm. (2000) Texan Restaurants / Barnes, Chase & Davis A local restaurant chain wanted a major upgrade in their commercials. I exceeded their expectations with very appetizing product photography. (2000) A Higher Level / Amway, Rubbermaid; Big Productions A promo for Amway/Rubbermaid. The glossy surfaces reflected the ultimatte but with my years of shooting cars, no problem. (1999) Make A Better Day / United Way; Big Productions Portrait interviews and B-roll of recipients of United Way help were mixed with an original song sung live to playback by a who's who of the Detroit community. (1999) Quality Farm and Fleet / Soloman Friedman Advertising A great spoof of the spy genre. Dramatic lighting and camera angles along with a fine net on the lens and some great costumes helped make this video a hit. (1999) Chevy Silverado Sneak Preview / Visual Services Chevy Silverado infomercial hosted by Cal Ripken, Jr. Behind the scenes look at the design and manufacture of the new Silverado truck. Among the many visual tricks employed was the use of swing and shift lenses to manipulate the plane of focus. (1998) Cadillac Historical Collection / Regan Productions A 10 minute 16mm film on the Cadillac Museum Collection. This film was shot for projection and used as a trailer for a screening of 'From Here To Eternity'. (1998) Meeting In A Box / Televideo Studios Chrysler competitive comparison. Cartoni dutch head, Fisher 10 dolly and splashes of HMI lighting are used as talent walks through the Chrysler tech center. (1997) Questions And Answers About Allergies / Visual Services A Schering-Plough sponsored infomercial. Rich sets and flattering portrait lighting set the tone for this informative and detailed half hour show. (1997)
